Urban farming is on the rise

Urban farming is on the rise in Quebec and particularly in Montreal, with greenhouses both on the ground and on rooftops, growing vegetables, flowers, mushrooms and various microgreens, although no mention is made here of cannabis.

I’ve been getting a weekly Lufa basket now for a year, and I’m sold. To get green vegetables and beautiful tomatoes all winter, grown locally, seems like magic. Anyone wants to join Lufa please give me a ping and I’ll send you a recommendation, so’s we’ll both get a discount. (This is not a paid advertisement – I’m just a happy customer.)

Update: Two levels of government are putting some funding into developing urban agriculture. The wisdom of producing more of our food close to home seems to be percolating through.
