Harinder Singh Cheema, who killed his wife here in 2007, fled to the U.S. and was apprehended there two years ago, was found guilty of murder in the second degree on Tuesday. Cheema had been on Quebec’s list of top ten wanted suspects for years.
CTV says Cheema stabbed Gurpreet Kaur, while TVA says he strangled her. CTV adds the poignant note that it happened on Christmas Eve, although the names of the killer and victim suggest that Christian holidays were likely not part of their culture.
