Weather is the news

Media have been a little confused about weather Friday morning, because east of here there’s something the media are enjoying calling a bomb cyclone, while Montreal has only had a light snowfall and a return to arctic conditions with some wind and a high of –17°. Le Devoir has some pictures explaining it. The airport is struggling after flight cancellations all down the east coast and people are warned off highways (Google slotted this as “cbc.ca (satire)”), but the city is doing OK.

Vague updates: There’s an extreme cold warning and blowing snow and continuing airport troubles.

It seems weird to me that the Journal sees highway snow clearance as an obstacle to traffic.

And we can all feel safer knowing that Martin Coiteux is keeping an eye on the situation.
