Superior Court has reversed a decision by municipal court in autumn 2016 that stopping and fining ticketless passengers in the metro is unconstitutional. Apparently metro cops have been flouting that decision anyway and continued ticketing, so not much will change.

It’s a Mascouche story, but it may affect things in town: a judge has blocked the town’s attempt to close a Muslim cultural centre. The town said there was no zoning for a place of worship; the judge pointed out that prayer doesn’t make the centre into a place of worship. The issue of cultural centres has come up a couple of times in Montreal too, as noted here by Tu Thanh Ha.
