Borough council erupts in protests

Police were called to the Villeray-St-Michel-Park Ex council meeting Tuesday night when protests erupted over the approval of two contentious projects: one, a condo building to be constructed on Lajeunesse, has residents worried – there’s concern about the conversion of their back alley into a mere parking access for the new residents – and the other in Park Extension near Parc metro, involving the conversion of a onetime industrial building, for a long time home to various community groups, into – what else? – luxury condos.

Valérie Plante has condemned the protest, at which police removed 30 people from the premises and arrested two.
