Thursday night there were scenes in the Plateau when members of Emmanuel Macron’s party holding a meeting in a restaurant were challenged by masked protesters. Do we have French expats squabbling now in this corner of Montreal?
In unrelated French news, Jean Honnorat, who was French consul general here for a few years, has left the city some books and bookshelves in his will, but the cost of paying legal fees in France and bringing the books here has made the city decline the legacy. Leather-bound Pléiade editions go for upward of $100 a pop, but it doesn’t sound like we’re passing on anything notably rare.
