City hall work to begin next summer

It’s not the first time it’s being reported, but media have pieces this weekend about the expense and extent of the plan to move city hall operations next door into the disused Lucien-Saulnier building while city hall is depth-renovated, including completely redoing the plumbing and wiring. CTV says the last time the building underwent a major reconstruction was in the 1920s but leaves out that this was needed because the original 1878 building was nearly destroyed by fire in 1922.

The initial move will be made next summer and the whole project should be complete by 2022, a century later.
