Prose on Montreal with children

Francine Prose – whose name always sounds more like a writing style than a person – writes a mellifluous tourist piece about Montreal for the New York Times, focusing on what it was like travelling with her grandchildren. It’s nicely done but manages to strike a few odd notes, including the statement that Saul Bellow comes from the Main (his family lived in Lachine and left the country permanently when he was 9 years old) and a reference to the “Old Harbor neighborhood.”
