City: $1.7 million for homeless

The city has a new $1.7-million homeless aid package to be divided up between 40 organizations.

(You know – this is good, but forty different organizations? Doesn’t a lot of the cash end up going to office rents, salaries, various costs of organizing things and fundraising? Why are these services not more centralized to avoid this kind of frittering?)
