Mark London, an architect whose work shaped the Old Port, the revived Lachine Canal and other public spaces here, died in Boston last month. He was 70.

Police held a ceremony this week to recognize the river rescue of a man who fell off his surfboard on the standing wave beside Habitat in June. Three off-duty SQ cops in one boat and a couple doing errands in another managed to fish the man out and resuscitate him. Seems he’s recovered completely.

2018’s has been one of the three hottest summers on record in Quebec. August was exceptionally hot, with temperatures 3° higher than the average most of the time and more humidity as well. A hot September is also predicted.

The headline implies that the Turcot just got $29 million more expensive but it’s about Quebec paying the city of Montreal for a piece of land, so it’s our money coming out of one pocket and going into another. Also it’s nice to see the city getting an upper hand on Quebec even for something like this.
