While recycling of paper, glass and metal has slowed down, composting is on the upswing and the city is investing more money in expanding it. Now we just have to stop building on Quebec’s good agricultural land so we have somewhere to use the resulting compost.

A woman’s attempt to kill herself Tuesday morning and an accident on the south shore blocked up the Champlain and made a bad morning rush hour even worse. Buses were also delayed and held up in the jam that spread all over the southern section of town. “It’s tremendous!” said one traffic cop as I hoofed along where I usually take a bus.
