Demolitions to pave way for 15-40
Two demolitions will pave the way for the commencement of construction for the 15-40 project. Considering the creeping deadness of malls, I’m doubtful about this whole thing, but I guess some folks are excited about it.
(Also, what’s with “2 buildings to be demoed”? I’ve only ever seen “demo” used as a verb that way to mean demonstration, e.g. “they demoed the new product this morning” rather than “demolished” – but the Gazette tends to be pally with developers so maybe they’ve picked up some of their argot.)
La Presse notes that Montreal has the highest taxes on commercial buildings out of the eleven biggest Canadian cities.
Update: I am reprimanded and told to refer to the project as Royalmount Mall.
