Point St Charles and its activism

Nice piece by Morgan Lowrie (CP) on Point St Charles and its activism – its community clinic was the template for the CLSC network, its legal aid clinic one of the first in Quebec, and it held off Loto-Quebec’s plan to build a casino complex on its borders. Now gentrification and the Bronfman plan to put a baseball stadium in the Peel basin are looming over the area.

I’m pleased to see that the city is flexing its muscles over the Peel Basin to remind developers it has priority over land use decisions. It’s about time.
