Namur-Hippodrome to be carbon neutral

The new sector to grow up around Namur metro and Blue Bonnets must be conceived as carbon neutral, says Valérie Plante. City hall opposition says it’s impracticable, although the argument from Marvin Rotrand that “the infrastructure alone would cost millions because there is currently no plumbing or electricity” would apply no matter what kind of construction is permitted, and it might as well be conceived as carbon neutral from scratch. It’s harder to retrofit carbon-neutrality into an existing building.

Metro’s writer notes that while Projet promised more than 8,000 new living spaces in the area, the total has now been trimmed back to 6000 – still quite a sizable new district.
