Towns are “blocking school construction”

Radio-Canada has a piece claiming that in fifty cases, municipalities have been blocking school construction, giving two examples. In one, Outremont feels the chosen location is not a good one, being near a city garage and railroad tracks, and in the other, St-Laurent is afraid of extra traffic, since modern children must be driven to school.

This is evidently meant to give relevance to the CAQ’s recent law allowing school commissions to simply claim a piece of land from a municipality, without paying for it.
