NDG and the closure of Station 11
The headline implies NDG residents are unhappy at the plan to close police station 11 on Somerled, but mostly the piece is about agitation by Lionel Perez and one-man anti-Plante band Marvin Rotrand. The one expert cited says there’s no consensus what effect centralizing police services has on crime statistics.
Note to Gazette: the headline “NDG up in arms” is perhaps ill chosen for the topic.

I’m an NDG resident unhappy about it! I don’t often have reason to drop in on a police station, fortunately, but when I do, it’s nice to have one reasonably close.

NDG Facebook groups are actually “up in arms”, even moreso because they are all so pro Sue Montgomery. The discourse on these neighborhood pages is unbelievable.

Montgomery was popularly elected afterall, hardly surprising she has supporters, and it doesn’t take many to make noise on social media.

The NDG Facebook pages in no way representative of the neighbourhood. The moderators have blocked countless people from participating on any topic, not just contentious ones.

lifelong NDGer- anybody who is a fan of station 11 has never dealt with those cops (RIP Nicholas Gibbs)
Agreed with YUL514, the ‘NDG Living’ board on FB, which may have been a simple community FB group at one point, is now being taken over by a couple of ppl in cahoots with the admin who want political power and influence.
