Legault won’t close bars

François Legault says evidence shows it’s private gatherings, not bars that are pushing up the Covid case numbers again, so he doesn’t intend to shut bars for the time being.

Seems to me the problem here is that it’s a lot harder to check up on private parties, especially on the eve of the construction holiday, when people may be planning get-togethers well out of sight of any authorities.

There are 7,203 active cases in Quebec, under a new data reporting method. The good news is that more than 50,000 people here have recovered and can – in theory – no longer pass the disease along.
