Police break up car parties
Police broke up car parties in three parking lots overnight. Seems the problem is that people were racing cars – not so much that there was proximity going on.
In other car stories, two vehicles were set on fire in St‑Michel late Saturday and another in St‑Léonard.

I prefer traffic calming measures, but “setting cars on fire” is probably a small part of the solution as well.

Wow, the end of the CTV news article implies that these “car parties” were a thing even before the pandemic. Weird.

EmilyG, some young men will always go a bit nuts with the internal combustion engine. Car surfing, road racing, I’ve a feeling the cops keep a lid on mentioning it in the media because simply knowing it’s going on would tend to attract a certain type of guy.

A weird thing about living in certain parts of NDG is that you can hear the motors running over at Blue Bonnets or the Orange Julep at all hours of the night.

I definitely hear a lot of cars roaring around more than usual this summer. Something about “less” traffic makes some drivers think they can do whatever the hell they want. I hope this is one of those pandemic trends that disappears. Even if it existed before, I’ve definitely observed a stark increase in cars driving fast and hear what I believe to be some sort of car parties nearby.
