Workers at Notre-Dame-des-Neiges, the city’s biggest cemetery, are demonstrating Sunday as people drive up to make Mother’s Day visits. They’re without a contract since 2018 and management has been cutting posts. I don’t know whether the idea of letting the whole area get wilder and shaggier really is because it’s better for the environment or because it saves money.

Sunday history bits here: the life of Joseph Onasakenrat (1845-1881) and the struggle over religion among the Mohawks.
Also, some Griffintown history and the generic origin of the names Prince and Queen Street (also King and Duke, which are not mentioned), all named by Thomas McCord.
