A home invasion Saturday morning in DDO resulted in a barricading situation, but only TVA tells us the ironic twist ending: the householder-victim has been arrested on drug charges, and the home invader hasn’t been found.

Sud-Ouest’s Georges-Vanier library has been renamed the bibliothèque Réjean-Ducharme after the renowned but reclusive author several of whose works are enshrined in Quebec’s canon. I don’t believe anything has turned up to disgrace Georges Vanier, whose name will remain on the nearby cultural centre and, presumably, metro station.

The Gazette headlines its piece on the Go Vélo events thus: Bikes rule as Tour de l’Île, Tour la Nuit shut down city this weekend with a deck beginning “Cyclists take over the streets of Montreal, not once but twice this weekend…”.
The routes for both Friday’s Tour la Nuit and Sunday’s Tour de l’Île are entirely east of St‑Laurent, so the vast majority of Gazette readers wouldn’t even be aware of them. But of course wording like this tends to manufacture consent that it’s so unfair for cyclists to “shut down the city.”

I so agree. That kind of anti-bike rhetoric also gives people who live off island another reason to feel smug about living in car-dominant suburbia.

A fellow blogger took photos of 95 benches and seats in alleys all over town, each one unique.

Very nice! I enjoyed looking through that collection of photos.

Yeah. Thanks for that.

And still so many more to document!
