A demonstration, led by Anne-France Goldwater, was held Sunday against Longueuil’s intention to slaughter 65 of the deer living in Michel-Chartrand park.
Although Goldwater is quoted here as saying there are other methods for dealing with the situation that would save the deer and not cost the taxpayer a dime, the journalist did not trouble to note down what these were.
How about deliver them to her house?
If only we could introduce wolves at Michel-Chartrand park.
I did see a few cougars hanging out by the pond last summer…
The College of Physicians is pressing again for harsher measures against the unvaccinated.
CTV discovered that while SAQ customers will be required to show a vaccination passport to shop, SAQ workers are not obliged to be vaxxed.
A bit of a non-story considering that, like everyone, SAQ workers will need proof of vaccination if they want to buy booze. Just as there are undoubtedly some bartenders and restaurant servers who don’t ever go out to a bar or restaurant, I suppose there are some SAQ workers who are teetotallers, but I’ll bet the number is insignificant…
Ehh, just buy it on shift, no?
just buy it online.
We’re going to see some of that classic January weather at the start of this week, with temperatures falling fast after midnight Sunday, and then a daytime high of –19° expected on Tuesday. There’s an Extreme Cold warning on the Environment Canada site: nice that the warning includes “If it’s too cold for you to stay outside, it’s too cold for your pet to stay outside.”
Exo is warning users that it may be reducing services because of lowered demand and staff out sick. Radio-Canada says that so far the STM is not cutting back.
La Presse looks at signs of life along Centre Street in Point St-Charles although the distinction drawn between “relance économique” and “renaissance d’un quartier” is a bit lost on me.
Yeah, I think that’s a poorly-articulated way of specifying that it’s a recovery (or renewal) specific to that neighborhood, versus a sign of overall economic recovery.
La Presse has a comic format story about the evolution of Covid treatment at the Vic.
One person died in a fire in Rosemont and another died in a crash on the Met overnight, but the crime wave that might be expected to follow a lot of absences from the police force has so far failed to materialize.

Of course they are, and of course they are. Unless we go back to street minyans there’s no way around it for them. Considering it’s going to be -25 Tuesday I don’t expect street prayers to resume any time soon.

Sure there is. They just don’t do it. Just like the rest of us just aren’t doing things we “need” to do.
