Racism at the MUHC: a report
Aaron Derfel has had a look at a preliminary draft of a report on racism at the MUHC, directed both at workers and at patients, and he gives examples of incidents that support the charge that the big hospital hasn’t tried hard enough to shame racist behaviour out of some of its people.

It boggles my mind that this stuff goes on at this level, which makes it easy for me to understand why some people simply don’t believe it. But that’s why it’s important to do this kind of study and report, to actually document these incidents and bring them to light. It’s shows that it’s way beyond people being overly sensitive or “woke” and just whining. This shit is real.
Unfortunately Derfel makes a glaring error near the start of the article when he writes:
“The report was commissioned by the MUHC board of directors following the shooting death of George Floyd, a Black man, by a white police officer in Minneapolis, Minn…”
Floyd was not shot; he died by neck compression (the famous knee on the neck).

The Gazette has removed the word “shooting” since the story was posted.
