Quartier Latin corner to be closed for streetwork
After complaints of low business from merchants in the Quartier Latin, the city suddenly announced the closure of the St‑Denis and Ontario intersection for the final two weeks of January, so that work can be done on a hundred‑year‑old sewer pipe.
According to this, it’s not the city’s mismanagement. Work being done nearby on some very old infrastructure revealed that the scope of that worksite would have to be enlarged. But this is bound to be blamed on city hall anyway.
I saw someone on social media blame Mayor Plante for the arrival of wild turkeys in the city.
Update: Yes, of course, people are peeved. Also as reported by Radio‑Canada, good photo.

Hey, I used to live in that building in the background of the Radio-Canada photo. At the time, the ground floor was occupied by a “Mmmuffins” bakery, which was immediately below me. Many a time I was awakened at 5AM by the overwhelming sweet smell of baking muffins. (I’m not saying that favourably; it was annoying.)
