I heard someone on the radio say “grab the SPF” when they meant use sunscreen. Has SPF now become a term for sunscreen, or was that just a one-off usage of the term, I wonder.

EG, not a one-off. I’ve heard it too. While I wouldn’t say it’s common usage (yet) it’s going that way.
