Jewish General gets new designation
It’s reported on most of our media that the Jewish General has been granted university hospital status which should enlarge the scope of research it can do.

CTV says that the JGH will now be the “Jewish General University Hospital Center”, to which my initial reaction was “absolutely not”, but the JGH press release says it is “[n]ow known as the Jewish General Hospital University Health Centre”.
“Jewish General Hospital University Health Centre” may sound even more unworkable, but I think it will actually be much more workable as it will really be known as the Jewish General Hospital U̶n̶i̶v̶e̶r̶s̶i̶t̶y̶ ̶H̶e̶a̶l̶t̶h̶ ̶C̶e̶n̶t̶r̶e̶.

(Not that a silly unworkable name has ever stopped anyone, given that every JGH page now has a prominent link at the top to other “Sites within Santé Québec West-Central Montreal Health and Social Services University Network”.)
