Who keeps up the “croix de chemin”?
La Presse looks into who puts up and maintains the croix de chemin seen all over Quebec. Apparently there are 30 in Montreal, 30 in Laval, and – all told – 3000 all over Quebec.
The only specific one I remembered was outside the Ferrari dealership on Jean‑Talon West, but I see from Streetview that it was snapped off sometime between 2022 and 2024.
I had always assumed that these crosses marked a spot where a fatal road accident had occurred, but not all of them do.
