Raising a point that caused some discussion here recently, some Plateau dwellers are not happy that a swimming pool will be moved to a new location in Baldwin Park. They don’t even mind the new location โ€“ what they do mind is that they were not consulted.

The local councillor says the decision is simply because of the unfortunate fact that the park was built over an old dump, and the old pool was affected by how the ground was subsiding. After examining the terrain, they chose the only viable setting for a pool, so it will be rebuilt there.

Lousy autocrats wonโ€™t even let us have a pool that collapses into the earth. Fascists!

A tornado warning rang out then a powerful thunderstorm hit the city, with several thousand people again experiencing power outages.

CBC radio has a Hydro-Quebec person on, saying that the power failures here aren’t from the storm, but because there are forest fires up by James Bay.

Updates: Reports on the storm from Radio‑Canada, CBC, CTV, La Presse. TVA reported on roads that closed, notably the Decarie expressway.

Has anyone reported on how this storm measured up to the fabled flood of 1987?

A body found in an Ontario river in 1975 has finally been identified as Jewell Parchman Langford, who was reported missing from Montreal around that time. The suspect is still alive in the U.S., and his extradition is expected so he can face charges here.
