A lot of helicopters were seen over parts of town Sunday, and it turns out they’re military craft flying back to their bases after taking part in a training session in Petawawa.

A reader alerted me to an interesting piece in the Globe and Mail that says more people moved from Ontario to Quebec in 2021 than vice versa, for the first time ever. Archive link given so we can read it.

        There goes the neighbourhood.

Robert H, those two ideas are not mutually exclusive. The experience and awareness of anglos in Quebec is different from the experience and awareness of anglos in Ontario. The Ontarians are likely less aware of bills 21, 96, the schools situation, etc. Maybe those Ontario anglos are simply thinking “hey, let’s move to Quebec where life is thrilling and full of hugs and kisses and better bagels!”

Ouais, Je prends votre point Blork.

They were probably thinking, how could any place be worse than Ontario under Ford? Granted, QC isn’t exactly worse, but it ain’t much better in so many other ways.

The family of the woman stabbed to death Friday had appealed for help only a few days previously because she seemed to be in a state of psychosis fuelled by drugs or alcohol. This item both names the woman and shows a photo of the suspect – an approach to crime reporting that nobody but QMI tends to have.

Pop-up Covid vaccination clinics are appearing again in the West Island. I don’t know whether they’re showing up elsewhere, but the sixth wave of Covid is causing a labour shortage, school absences and more delays in health procedures.

Radio‑Canada looks into the history of the Broccolini construction firm, whose founder died late last month at 97. The company is at grips with changing times now that materials are so expensive, interest rates are rising and and workers are hard to find.
