La Presse has a recipe for making Cherry Blossoms at home.

It reminds me of the old “how to make REAL kentucky Fried Chicken” recipes. Yeah yeah, we know we can make even better versions of most commercial foods at home. That’s not the point.

That’s a LOT of icing sugar though 😀

It’s weird that their recipe uses peanut butter. I don’t think the original does.

I believe the original is hazelnuts but since crunchy hazelnut butter will run you at least 20 bucks a jar maybe they figured it was worth substituting

Anyone else notice that the blog items that get the most response are about food? I’m considering a sideblog project…

Mmmm, gotta love a big mouthful of paraffin!

@Kate I’m sure a sideblog project on food would be very popular! I look forward to it if you decide to proceed with it!

It almost felt like spring, walking around Saturday afternoon after the cold snap, but even so I was startled to pass a young woman wearing an open jean jacket over a crop top. (Now that’s Canadian, I muttered to myself as I noticed that I hadn’t done up my jacket either.)

This is also the moment in the year when one feels the days are getting longer again. I’ll hang onto that as a bit of hope when all about us seems to be getting darker.

That’s the equivalent of a Dudes Rock moment. (I also saw a guy in shorts today.)

-2 today, if it weren’t for the wind it would be downright balmy.

La Presse’s Marie-Eve Fournier interviews chef Normand Laprise in three parts, talking about his recovery from a rare disease, the bankruptcy of part of his business, and the difficulties of running any kind of restaurant in this economy.

Hopefuls are trying out for the Canadian team going to the Homeless World Cup soccer tournament later this year in Oslo. The four young men shown in Radio‑Canada’s photo look a lot healthier and happier than most people who have no home. Even a lot who do.

Police called to a “man in crisis” situation in Point St Charles early Saturday ended up shooting him, although not fatally. Details are scanty.

Why it’s almost as if you shouldn’t call the cops to deal with a mental health crisis in case someoene ends up getting shot.

Following La Presse’s piece on the Old Brewery Mission Solidaribus earlier this week, CTV also accompanies two outreach workers on the bus as they ply the streets of the city by night.
