STM to hold session on SRB Pie-IX extension
The STM plans a public session later this month on the extension of the SRB Pie‑IX down to Notre‑Dame. The work will take till 2027.

I know it’s an integrated project including a street redesign, not just a BRT extension, but it’s still wild that the STM takes as much time to build a small-ish BRT line than it takes CDPQi to build +60 km of metro.

They’re not just putting in lane markers, but also digging up and modernizing all the sewers and pipes and cables under the roadbed.

Yeah, it’s the underground work that takes years, not the surface-level stuff. Five years seems like a long time even for that, though. They might be doing it in stages – when it’s finished next month, Pine Avenue will have taken three years for a similar reconstruction, but that involved two distinct phases with minimal overlap.
