SPVM policies and racism

A group of engaged academics including Ted Rutland have signed a piece in Le Devoir about how SPVM policies support racist attitudes on the force. It’s not surprising when we’ve observed for a long time how the police talk out of both sides of their faces on this issue, saying one thing – that they want to be fair – but doing another, supporting random stops which are known to be biased, based on unexamined impulses from the police id.
