Paramedics protest new overtime protocols
Urgences-santé paramedics held a protest Monday against new protocols requiring they work extreme amounts of overtime.
Somebody isn’t reading the room. I was on a bus today, and we saw people picketing near the Neuro. Drivers were honking and people on the bus were waving and applauding. Health care workers really have the public on their side this time.

Got lots of support while picketing today, random people coning up to us and being encouraging but a francophone colleague was warning that the tone of the coverage on TVA was shifting against the strike. I think Legault’s sunk himself too far, but we’ll see.

It’s very easy to shift public opinion, you just need to plant the little seeds of doubt and exploit our fear of change: “Don’t they get paid pretty well already?”, “Hasn’t this has gone on long enough? It’s time to go back to normal”, “It’s selfish for them to disrupt patient care, can’t they protest more nicely?”. Before you know it there’s an army of would-be Ayn Rands spreading the gospel.

Remember who owns TVA and what possible bias could come as a result

Funny bit from PKP’s wikipedia page: Péladeau was so inspired by Karl Marx while attending university that he changed his middle name from “Carl” to “Karl”.

Even if TVA spreads lies, you’d think someone must know at least one health care worker, an education worker, paramedic, etc. etc. to get the real story?
I’ve seen truckers honking in support, and I bet many of them voted for the CAQ. I think the tide is turning and the CAQ are really screwing this up.

I hope they all get 30% raises, and lets make it reasonable – 30% over the next 3 years.

5 10 and 20 % in years 1, 2 & 3 to help with that compound effect 😀
Legault and his pals were suckers to give themselves a flat raise without taking compound interest into consideration, but it’s pretty clear they are innumerate from the offers they are putting on the table.
They are quoting all kinds of numbers to the media but I can tell you for a fact that CEGEP teachers have been offered 12.7% over 5 years, with inflation estimated at 18.1 %.
