Fire at Notre-Dame
A fire broke out early Sunday at Notre‑Dame. Damage to some scaffolding has been blamed on an electric fault, although CTV is sticking to an initial assumption of arson. La Presse withdrew the headline “incendie criminel” and now also says it was a fire of electrical origin, and that Christmas services have been unaffected.
CTV has now updated its headline to exclude arson too.
Notre-Dame has been touched by fire before, in December 1978, when the Sacré‑Cœur chapel behind the main church was destroyed by arson.
