Mile End building collapses
A building on Park Avenue in the Mile End has collapsed, forcing the evacuation of a dozen tenants in an adjoining building.
On Streetview, you can see that some masonry work was being done on 5990 Park Avenue in 2022.

Oh that’s so sad. I’m glad her cat is okay. Is that not across the street from where the building exploded like 10 years ago?

I remember that, but it’s longer ago than the current history of the blog and I can’t find a reference.
(Looking for it, though, I found this piece by DeWolf.)

Right the other side of the alley from my place. It’s been open to the elements for years, I was wondering when it would finally collapse.
Hey Kate, why “The MIle End” and not “The Avenue of Park” ? 😉

Any chance this building has the same owner as the one that collapsed on Van Horne a year ago?

I had heard from the neighb ourhood gossip that it was bought by an investor from France but after covid he just let it rot. VH is a different group, local condo developers.

Thanks, Ian.
Shoe dropping: was there really no snow on the ground in early February last year?

Last year was shit for snow, there were only three snowstorms the whole winter and one was in April. If you look in front of the building to the left of the collapsed building and behind it next to the building under construction you’ll see some crusty remnants of snow.
