The backlash is predictable, partly because it’s Trump, and opposition to him often comes preloaded. The oil and rare material resources also makes people uncomfortable.
If the US doesn’t take acces others (Iran, Cuba, China, Russia) will, and pretending otherwise is selective realism. It’s easier to condemn the actor than to admit the game is the same.
One could imagine opening Venezuelan resources to global markets, engaging all major players, and supporting a clear democratic transition under recognized opposition leadership. Wonder if that ever will be on the table.

And Venezuela was walking around in such revealing outfits, too.

I don’t understand why so many countries around the world have been putting US oil under their land. What do they expect, the Americans to just leave it there??

It’s interesting that there was a Cuban military force guarding Maduro. If Miller’s claim that Venezuela’s oil rightfully belongs to the US I guess the Cubans should be sweating over all that land that rightfully belongs to United Fruit.
The grift is becoming much more open.

Venzuela threatened to invade Guyana to steal its oil, so there’s some delicious karma here.

Let’s not speak about countries in abstract. Whose government threatened to invade Guyana? Blame these actions on people in power, not territories.
Besides, thaat’s dharma, not karma. Karma is in the next cycle, not this one. Not that I’m a buddhist, but hey.
“Dharma means “protection”. By practicing Buddha’s teachings we protect ourself from suffering and problems. All the problems we experience during daily life originate in ignorance, and the method for eliminating ignorance is to practice Dharma.”

Ian, it’s commonly understood that referring to a country in the manner I did is referring to the government, as I’m sure you know already. Jim referred to “the US” the same way. It’s normal speech.
