Double standard called out at funeral

There was a funeral Friday for Jannai Dopwell-Bailey, stabbed October 18 by another teenager. After the ceremony, the young man’s brother denounced the double standard: the more recent killing of white Thomas Trudel has evoked a much bigger response from politicians and commentators than the death of Dopwell-Bailey did.

On the other side of the balance is the fact Trudel was shot, making his killing part of the wider “too many guns” narrative, but that doesn’t explain away the callous indifference of public figures by comparison.
