A Le Devoir writer served as a subject when the medevac unit at the Gilles‑Villeneuve track practiced an emergency evacuation to Sacré‑Cœur hospital. Every year, two or three members of the public have health crises bad enough to justify whisking them off the island to the hospital. The medical crew would also act if a driver gets hurt in a crash.
