Info-Neige is now a paid app
It’s being noted on reddit that the Info‑Neige app now requires payment of $9.99 a year, or $3.99 per month. People are suggesting the 311 Montreal app instead.
I don’t think $10 per year for a useful app is too much to ask, but am putting this here for people who have to move their cars for snow clearing.

It looks like you need a subscription to get updates but not to check the map, because there was a skip button on the payment page.

I think the issue is that a lot of people thought that Info-Neige was somehow subsidized by the city, especially given the “mobile solution inspired by Montreal” with the city logo implying some kind of official relationship. If a commerical app is inappropriately using the city logo, I think a cease and desist might be in order.

Maybe I got grandfathered in bc I have notifications on and never paid for the app…

I still get notifications, but I see there is an app update available today. The update might push the payment plan.
Also, I totally thought this was an app made by the city (or for the city). The city of Montreal logo is quite prominent in the app, as Ian mentioned.

Just as some of us thought Clic Santé was a Quebec government site – which it isn’t. Although at least it doesn’t flaunt a Quebec government logo.

I knew Info-Neige was not city made, unlike Clic Sante which surprised me. The Montreal 311 app isn’t very clear, but the info-neige website is great.

The answer to the Ville de Montréal-affiliation confusion is that it was previously the official app of the city, as seen in this archived page:

Thank goodness, I’ve always assumed I’d eventiually go crazy but I was hoping that this wasn’t the exactmoment. I was sure it used to be “official”, thank you.

Update:
The info-neige app updated itself and is now asking me for money. I switched to the city app.
It’s too bad as info-neige had some great features and better ux than the 311 app.
