No Canada Day parade again this year
I don’t imagine many tears will be shed over the cancellation of the Canada Day parade again this year. But the chaotic mess of excuses given by organizer Nicholas Cowen (who put him in charge?) are pathetic: “ongoing planning disruptions, strained relations with city departments and unresolved challenges stemming from municipal worker strikes […] safety concerns for parade-goers […] logistical challenges […]” yadda yadda.
And then: In an email to CBC, City of Montreal spokesperson Nicky Cayer said that as was the case last year, Cohen failed to submit a project application “despite the city inviting him to do so on several occasions.”
The only thing on Nick Cowen’s Linkedin page is a claim that he is “Main Organizer of the Montreal Canada Day Parade” except, you know, not. (CBC spells his name both Cowen and Cohen, but he’s Cowen on Linkedin.)

For an event to be cancelled, it must have been attempted. Nicholas Cowen cancelling the Canada Day Parade is like me saying I cancelled our trip to Mars. An embarrassment to Nicholases everywhere.
