The Club 357c is closing, supposedly in response to changing business habits. Namechecked throughout the Charbonneau commission as a place where secret deals were made, it hasn’t featured in any news items recently.

I hope the handsome building is preserved, and not just as a façade tacked onto a condo highrise.

Given its location, any change to the exterior of the main building would be all but impossible.

A bar on de Maisonneuve near Peel was torched overnight, nobody hurt, nobody arrested.

The city is putting $29.5 million into improving its sports fields which this item says are scarce and in poor shape. Granted, sports fields need ongoing maintenance, but it doesn’t seem all that long ago that Denis Coderre also made similar announcements. Did his administration do less than it promised to do?

Certainly, Jarry Park has been largely subdivided into sports areas – skateparks, basketball courts, soccer fields, cricket grounds, and multiple baseball diamonds. The non-sports-dedicated parts of the park have been shrinking every year. Maybe it’s an anomaly?

Also not April Fools: seasonal parking restrictions begin for street cleaning, while metered street parking gets a little pricier.

The city has commenced the massive spring cleanup needed as winter retreats.

Beer and Hydro costs go up as well: https://montreal.ctvnews.ca/video?clipId=1649757.

The price hike for beer is mostly theoretical as I don’t think there are any retailers, even Costco, that sell beer at the minimum price anymore.

Mea culpa – apparently this will lead to a $1.46 increase on 60-packs of Coors Light and Bud Light at Costco. *shrug*

Two busy streets will close for repairs to adjoining metro stations: de Maisonneuve near Atwater till the end of 2020, and Jean-Talon east of St‑Denis for a shorter period of time for similar repairs.

          Not April Fools, apparently.

The Gazette article mentions that the St Denis doors will be inaccessible. There are no doors on St Denis, so I wonder which one’s they are talking about…

The ones near Jean-Coutu, I think.
