Plante: anti-maskers disrespect victims of Covid
The mayor said Monday that anti-mask protesters show disrespect to Covid’s victims and deplored their irresponsibility as case numbers have begun to creep upward.
The entire Bloc Québécois caucus has gone into isolation after a staff member tested positive. Quebec Liberal chief Dominique Anglade is also in preventive isolation after her kid showed possible symptoms.

The anti-maskers are so fixated on their ‘freedom’, they fail to remember that medical workers also have freedom eg: the freedom to quit their jobs if they feel overwhelmed. It is well-documented that during plagues, doctors and the like typically flee to protect themselves and their families. If New York City just let nature take its course with covid, a couple more weeks of Spring’s hospital hellscape there would have ended just like that. Then what? That’s basically what all these health measures are trying to prevent. Lowering the count is the obvious goal but the deeper goal is to keep hospitals open period. I would really like politicians to point out this other freedom issue.

I don’t recall who it was pointed out that the mask actually gives a person freedom – freedom to go out, take public transit, shop more safely in a busy grocery store, move around the city. I find it mind-boggling that people don’t understand you can’t negotiate with a pathogen, there’s no element of “fairness” in how a virus leaps from one person to another.

“mind boggling”
I think a lot of minds have been boggled in the last 20 years of American decline. Boggled minds are very profitable for the people who have the time and inclination to think up scams.
