How the pandemic has changed homelessness

A look at how the pandemic has changed homelessness in the city, although respondents differ on whether more people are now homeless or whether it’s simply that some who would previously have used conventional shelters are now more visible because they’re living in tents by the road. Same CP story in English on CTV.

Update: CBC’s piece focuses more on the city’s efforts to convince the campers to vacate and go to shelters. Isaac Olson talks to the borough mayor here, who says it’s hurting one of the poorest neighbourhoods to have this encampment in its midst. Well, yeah. If the campers had set up in Westmount or TMR they’d have been turfed before sunrise.
