A wild area in the old Technoparc, part of the zone prized by conservationists and nature photographers, was recently mowed, removing a huge area of wild plants and flowers needed by bees and butterflies. The article implies that the land is under the control of Aéroports de Montréal (ADM) but that they did not reply to questions.
By the way, milkweed, which is mentioned in the article as important to monarch butterflies, is at its peak right now – and it smells wonderful, as good as lilacs or peonies or roses.

That’s heartbreaking. It’ll be years before it gets back to way it should be.

What do you want to bet somebody important ordered it done because of allergies? There’s a periodic seasonal news story that crops up about just that: removing wild plants because of hay fever.
