A tiny outdoor public pool has opened in Centre‑Sud and more tiny pools may open if this one is a success.

“Hello, we’d like a pool please.”

Best I can do is refurbished shipping container.

“Hmmm, well, okay. Will you buy many containers and put them all over the place so that everyone can enjoy them?”

No. We will study one to see if it works. Also, only 20 people at a time.

Also: the wooden structure will only last a few years? Did they not hire a carpenter who knows what they’re doing?

$50K for a roofless shipping container? You can buy these used for under $2K USD

Also – the high-end price tag for an inground pool is like $200,000, and they can accommodate many more people and last a lot longer. How is this cost-effective?

This is Quebec, where digging a hole is a vastly complicated and expensive engineering challenge.

      Also, filling in smaller holes.

After plenty of evidence that it’s a popular spot with the boys, Pizzeria Moretti has its permits suspended for 25 days.

People keep trying to steal cars from a repair garage in Ahuntsic. The owner has put in more security measures, but wants police to make more of a deterrent effort.

I was looking up the details on this weekend’s Vietnamese festival when I also found that there’s also an Asian night market sponsored by T&T in St‑Laurent this weekend.

…then I found out from reports on Sunday that Saturday was Chinatown day.

Concordia University made a legal bid to delay the CAQ’s tuition hike for out‑of‑province students, but a judge ruled against them last week. French is safe!

Good. Next time a naked, knife wielding home invader breaks into an apartment of an out of province student they won’t have to suffer the indignity of hearing English lol

The judge did agree the tuition hikes are likely doing irreparable harm to Concordia; he just wants to hold a trial before making a decision.

Isn’t the irreparable harm part of the point?

The Gazette’s René Bruemmer looks at how the average age of the homeless is rising as older people get evicted and can’t afford new places to live.

CP has a look at popular resistance to services for the homeless, specifically concerning the Maison Benoît Labre in St‑Henri.
