Frank Zampino took the stand in his trial Thursday and denied all accusations of collusion, claiming the first time he heard about anything like that was during the Charbonneau commission.
Friday, Zampino continued to deny everything, saying he had never seen any of the faxes sent directly to him at his office.

The Toronto Star is doing a nostalgic series about Canada, one piece being Montreal’s most iconic foods.
MarcG
Searched article for “pizzaghetti”, no hits, fake news.
Blork
OK, settle a bet. Is pizzaghetti:
(a) Pizza topped with spaghetti
(b) Half a pizza with a side of spaghetti on the same plate
I’ve seen both. Which is the iconic one?
Ephraim
@Blork it’s one of three and depends on where you go. Half a pizza and half a spaghetti, pizza topped with spaghetti, or spaghetti baked into a pizza. Most iconic that I can think of it Marconi, where it’s baked into the pizza. Alto, da Giovanni and Green Spot are a small pizza with a spaghetti served in the middle, not on top.
Kate
Am I a true Montrealer if I’ve never had pizzaghetti? I’ve never even been at a table where other people were ordering it.
Ian
I feel like the stars may be aligned for the perfect pizzaghetti smoked meat breakfast poutine
SMD
@Ian, I would eat that in a heartbeat. Might be my last heartbeat, but still worth it!
Kevin
A couple of my former co-workers used to order poutine pizzas when they were working the late shift. Just dump a poutine directly on a pizza, no utensils required.
Joey
I worked with a guy who put mayo in his poutine. We all mocked him mercilessly until we tried it…
MarcG
I used to work at an office near a highschool and at lunchtime would observe with horror the kids covering their slices of pizza with mayonnaise.
roberto
In french, is it UNE pizzaghetti or UN pizzaghetti ?
Ian
It’s at times like this I feel that French would benefit from a neutral pronoun like German to indicate this food’s transgressive nature.
Kate
roberto, Wiktionnaire hyphenates it and makes it masculine.
It also shows a picture of half a pizza and a half portion of spaghetti side by side on a plate and says, delicately, “Bien que la pizza et le spaghetti soient des plats de la cuisine italienne, leur combinaison n’est pas connue en Italie.”
Ephraim
Officially from 2008… https://vitrinelinguistique.oqlf.gouv.qc.ca/fiche-gdt/fiche/26502143/pizza-ghetti and it’s masculine.
@Ian – II am already trying to recover from both the ideas of creton and oreilles de chrisse.
And before someone asks, creton if masculine and oreilles de chrisse is feminine, but oreilles de chrisse isn’t in the dictionary, it relies on the “oreilles” part.
Ian
Considering that “vagina” is a masculine noun in French, it’s best not to concern oneself with trying to make sense of it.
So here’s another conundrum – italian poutine is regular poutine but with meat sauce instead of brown sauce. I’ve had pizza poutine that is poutine with a red meat sauce and all dress ingredients. Spaghetti poutine is italian poutine with pasta instead of fries. if you just add all dress ingredients to a red meat sauce and serve it on pasta, could it be considered spaghetti pizza?
I don’t even want to contemplate brown sauce and curds on pasta, but I’m sure it’s been tried.
Blork
Is there such a thing as ramen poutine?

When my wife and I visited New Zealand we ate a dish of kūmara (local sweet potato-ish tuber) fries covered in halloumi cheese chunks and drizzled with aioli sauce. I don’t remember if they billed it as NZ poutine or not but we sure did.
Ephraim
@MarcG Federal Deli in Auckland… it’s a poutine crime, not a poutine. They use cubes of cheddar cheese and the sauce… not great. I have the scars! They even serve it with a pair of tongs! https://maps.app.goo.gl/GcC9BJgyez5G1iUQ6
MarcG
Haha, the place I’m thinking of was in Wellington.
MarcG
Damn, Ephraim you’re not kidding, this is a truly offensive cultural appropriation.
Ephraim
There is a whole subreddit to this crime… https://www.reddit.com/r/PoutineCrimes/ and look for the Rainbow poutine
Blork
I like pizza and I like spaghetti, so the half-and-half option ((b) above) makes perfect sense and I’d eat that without hesitation. But dumping spaghetti on a pizza ruins the pizza and turns the spaghetti into an anti-pizza weapon. All other variants are too stupid to even consider. So say we all.
Ian
Nuts and gum, together at last!

A real pizzaghetti has a bambino pizza with a half-order of spaghetti.
As for iconic foods, there’s no mention of the steamie.Blork
Is there a time limit? Today I had pizza for lunch. Tonight I’m having spaghetti for dinner. Is that like day-long pizzaghetti?

The public sector building in which I work will be cutting back on heating and AC. As a colleague pointed out, we can deal with the cold by dressing more warmly, but cutting the already feeble AC in a building with unopenable windows will be pretty miserable. (yes, we already have fans)

I used to work in one of those old McGill buildings that requires a few weeks of work to switch from heating to cooling (“shoulder season”). One spring we had a short but intense heat wave that preceded the transition to A/C. The windows opened, but 30 degree air is hot even if it’s fresh. That day was a slog and it’s hard to imagine getting much done under those kinds of conditions, though who doesn’t remember how hot schools can get? I suppose intolerance to slightly intense weather really increases with age.
