The REM branches to Deux‑Montagnes and Anse‑à‑l’Orme may not open in October as promised.
Later Saturday a slightly opaque story came out, saying that CDPQ‑Infra is proposing to run buses along the new REM routes for an unspecified time.
Heliomass looked at the REM route a year ago.

I wonder how much extra it is costing to redesign and order/build switches that can withstand winter?

Oh don’t be silly, why would they need those?

I live on the West Island. Given that I’ve not seen a test train in months, this comes as no surprise.

I also live in the West Island.
When I heard that the REM here would start operating in the fall, I figured it’d be later than that, as it seems that a lot of projects in Montreal end up behind schedule. The REM elsewhere, the Azur trains, and I recently learned on this blog that the Olympic tower wasn’t ready in time for the Olympics.
Makes me feel not so bad when I get behind in my own projects. Though with that being said, I should get back to work.

CDPQInfra in 2016: We’ll rebuild the line (DM), and there won’t be any shutdowns maybe “a weekend or two”
CDPQInfra in 2018: We’ll need to shutdown every weekend during the preparation phase already.
CDPQInfra in 2025: maybe it‘ll reopen in 2027.
Its weird how much those who said there will be extensive shutdowns were dismissed. Although I must say I didnt expect it to be shut down for so long.
