City workers walk off over “mandatory barbecue”
The Rover’s story about a spontaneous walkout at Sud‑Ouest borough over a “mandatory barbecue” goes into more detail about conditions at the borough: “Four out of the borough’s 10 garbage trucks are out of commission, two of its three sidewalk sweepers are in the shop and the team that used to repair sidewalks has been cut for the summer.”
I’ve seen nothing about the situation in mainstream media, but Christopher Curtis is that old‑school guy, an investigative reporter.

Yes, this is a great piece. Extremely frustrating to read about “management” continuing to cut services while forcing stupid morale boosters on the workers. I really felt for that poor low-level manager who had been clearly forced against his will to make the announcement.

Some manager has too much power and no business having it whatsoever.
Managers need to remember that employees don’t work for them, they work for the company.
