This is an excellent example of something that would be more appropriately dealt with by spending part of the police budget differently, like on the CIUSSS, for instance. Or 211. almost any of the agencies here: https://www.211qc.ca/en/search?cat-id=11&sub-cat=mobile-units-and-street-work
But police presence is all about optics, not solutions, so whatever.

My brother lives very near the St Benoît Labre injection site, and he would love to see more police intervention to work with the unhoused there, but he has never seen a cop on foot in the area. They just drive by without ever getting out of their cars. My sister-in-law now takes big detours when she does her errands in the neighborhood.
