One dead in Blainville construction collapse

It’s off-island but the biggest story since Tuesday evening: one man was killed and two other workers injured when a retaining wall collapsed at a construction site in Blainville. TVA asks where the engineers were when three days of rain shifted the land around the excavation. Police are investigating for possible criminal negligence.

In tangential but unconnected news, there was a landslide in Ste‑Monique also, early Wednesday. A house was swallowed up but nobody was hurt. If I’ve found the right one on the map, Ste‑Monique is just east of Lac St‑Pierre.
