Schools “may” close Monday
With his typical lack of good sense – remember the eclipse diktat – Bernard Drainville is saying schools “may” close Monday for the heatwave – which, given it’s the last day of school before summer, an orphan Monday before St‑Jean, could be a more decisive statement.

Thank you for the reminder to periodically look up the video of Drainville in tears over the 3ième line.

For most, this was not even a school day on the calendar. Today (and Wednesday as well for some) was to make up for snow days during the winter’s snowstorm. Summer vacation was scheduled initially to start last Friday night.
Parents were asked to postpone vacation plans because that one day was soooo important to reach the minimum number of days imposed by the ministry. And now, it turns out it does not really matter after all.
Our school (FACE) was allowed to make it a pedagogique where teachers had to come in and start making boxes for the move but students had the day off. We are lucky common sense prevailed. There would have been so many absentees anyways.

Are people moving from the old FACE classrooms to new digs over the summer?

All the stuff from the elementary classes is being moved to the empty school on the corner of St-Joseph and Christophe-Colomb during the summer. The high school classes are remaining in the patrimonial building on University at least until 2032. There is some moving around there too nonetheless because a lot of renos are being done at the old building during the summer as well.
